A moms review:
Ever wonder where all those super awesome ideas for the things we use everyday come from? Well of course scientists or inventors create them...but where do they get the ideas from? Well this 77 page, hardback, beautifully illustrated book has all of the answers. Those amazing things like Velcro, painless needles, Kevlar, air conditioning, etc are indeed manufactured by man but the IDEAS come from God's amazing designs in nature.
"God's design = Man's interpretation."
As you know I love my camera so I found the section on the "Human Eye - A Better Camera Lens" to be fascinating. Did you know that engineers fabricated a sensor array capable of 256 detectors. This is a small step in the right direction to maximizing a camera's field of view. How cool is that?
Another section we really enjoyed was the part about "Mosquitos Studied For Painless Needles." I must say after reading this I'm actually am thankful for those pesky little flying creatures. You see my husband is diabetic and well that means lots of needles. Researchers in Japan are studying these little bloodsuckers to find ways to make needles more comfortable...isn't that AWESOME news!!!
The kids loved the section on "Stronger Than Kevlar - Spider-Web Strong." Thanks to the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" specifically the Malagasy spider (who has the strongest spider silk) scientist are working to invent tougher materials (stronger than Kevlar created in 1965). Stronger materials means better bullet proof vests, etc.
Spider silk = 253,816 PSI

More about the DVD:
Science shamelessly steals from God’s creation, yet refuses to give God the glory!
- How the glow of a cat’s eyes innovates road reflectors
- The naturally sticky inspirations for Velcro and barbed wire
- A fly’s ear, the lizard’s foot, the moth’s eye, and other natural examples are inspiring improvements and new technologies in our lives
Engineers and inventors have long examined God’s creation to understand and copy complex, proven mechanics of design in the science known as biomimicry. Much of this inspiration is increasingly drawn from amazing aspects of nature, including insects to plants to man in search of wisdom and insight. We are surrounded daily by scientific advancements that have become everyday items, simply because man is copying from God’s incredible creation, without acknowledging the Creator.
